Creating the climate for change in Stratford and Perth County, Ontario

Sept 20th Stratford Climate Rally

On Friday September 20th over 100 students walked out from St. Michael’s Secondary, Stratford Secondary and Elementary Schools, and Nancy Campbell Academy. They marched along city streets to Market Square where over 200 people attended for a rally and eco info fair with local community groups and projects.

Renewable Energy Projects

Athlone Farms, owned by the Anderson family, in Perth County just a few minutes southeast of Stratford, is producing 500 kilowatts per day – enough to power 500 houses per day.

Clothing, Climate & Re-Use Economies

With more and more light shed on the environmental and social ramifications of “fast fashion” and fashion production, the second-hand clothing economy is taking off.

Tree Planting

Over more than four decades since 1972, George Finnigan has overseen, along with other Scouting colleagues, the planting of up to 3,000 trees each year in the Stratford area.

Hands-On Learning for Youth

For the past decade, the Avon Maitland District School Board has prioritized experiential learning in the teaching curriculum as a way to connect students to their natural environment, including the Great Lakes MicroPlastics Project.
