Join us Thursday March 18 at 7:30 p.m. for our next virtual community meeting on Zoom or Facebook Live: Cars, Convenience, and Carbon – Practical “moves” to reduce green house gas emissions from transportation

Transportation is a leading contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and is where individual action can have the largest impact. Join us for a discussion on how individuals and families can make small (and not so small) choices that can shrink our collective carbon footprint.

We will start with a panel discussion moderated by City Councillor, and Active Transportation Advisory Committee Member, Kathy Vassilakos. Speakers will include:

  • Sarah Merkel on School Active Transportation and practical strategies to help families choose active transportation to and from school
  • Mike Mousley from Stratford Public Transit on technology and services to make it easier to leave the car at home
  • Jessika Guy on strategies and benefits for getting more women out cycling and also how independent businesses can be part of the solution
  • Colin Dhillon on green car technology and the very cool Project Arrow (watch the video here)

Come prepared for the final segment of the discussion where we ask everyone “What would Dave do?” As guest speaker at the February event that launched this speaker series, Mayor David Mayberry of South-West Oxford set a high standard for individual responsibility and how far one family can go to reduce their carbon footprint. (You can watch that segment of his talk here.) Come prepared to add an action item to chat box – something you have done or are committed to doing to reduce your transportation carbon footprint.
