The #FridaysForFuture movement began just one year ago, in August 2018, after 15-year-old Greta Thunberg sat in front of the Swedish parliament every school day for three weeks, to protest against the lack of action on the climate crisis. By May of this year more than 1 million students joined Greta to walk out in 131 countries around the world.
On Friday September 20, you and our entire community are invited to join students in their global movement and to mark the beginning of the Global Week for Future. What an opportunity to join with those rising up around the world! — to show we believe serious climate action is important, to stand with people around the world already feeling the effects of climate change, to support youth who have created an inspiring worldwide movement for change, and to call on leaders to do what the science clearly tells us must be done.

Here in Stratford we will join local youth for #FridaysForFuture with a walk/parade from our city high schools to an eco info fair and rally in Market Square.
We need your help and your participation!
- You can read more about Fridays for Future on our blog and at fridaysforfuture.org and climatestrikecanada.org
- You can join in to help organize the sidewalk parade, eco info booths, interactive art, speakers and the rally program, and music
- Follow local student social media posts at ClimateStirkeStratford on Instagram
- And you can plan on joining both the walk and the rally in the Market Square on Friday September 20th starting at 1pm.
Our next planning meeting is on Thursday August 22 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m at Revel, 37 Marketplace. Come and join in! You don’t have to live in Stratford to be a part of this event. If you’re nearby and want to be a part of this, please come to the planning meeting or send us a message.
Contact either Anne Carbert or Bill James-Abra through hello@climatemomentum.ca with your questions and to let us know of your interest.
See you there!
